MEDUMAT Easy
In the manual mode the user can adjust the breathing rate by
himself. It can only be activated when MEDUtrigger is connected.
MEDUtrigger can be used to deliver manual breaths to the patient
with the set tidal volume.
For example, manual mode is used to check the tube after
intubation or for cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The length of the expiration phase corresponds to the length of
inspiration phase in manual mode. The inspiratory-expiratory time
ratio is 1:1.
Further information on the manual mode can be found in the
section "Operation"
mode",
page64).
The continuous mode (IPPV mode) is used for mandatory volume-
controlled ventilation with a fixed minute volume. The minute
volume is set via a combined setting of the tidal volume and
frequency. This mode is used on patients who have no
spontaneous respiration.
The set ventilation pressure limitation (pMax) ensures the safety of
the patient. Either a pressure of 20 cmH20 (for mask ventilation) or
a pressure of 45 cmH2O (for intubated ventilation) can be set.
PEEP (positive end-expiratory pressure) can be applied in this mode
via an external mechanical PEEP valve that is connected to the
expiration port of the patient valve.
The inspiratory-expiratory time ratio is fixed to 1:2 for tidal volumes
≤ 150 ml and to 1:3 for tidal volumes > 150 ml.
Further information on the continuous mode can be found in the
section "Operation"
continuous mode",
