Elevated surface temperatures
The below are surface temperatures of the area above the fireplace
opening after a 3 hour burn period. Use this guide in good faith to
decide on an appropriate facing material and mantle. A cool wall kit
can aid in lowering surface temperatures as shown.
Tests are based off a 24,000 BTU NG unit.
Standard installation
16" above opening = 150°F
12" above opening = 160°F
8" above opening = 180°F
4" above opening = 200°F
IMPORTANT
Every install requires the
installation of the included
cement board.
Temperatures are based off of
the minimum enclosure size.
Venting ports open w/ vented chase
16" above opening = 100°F
12" above opening = 110°F
8" above opening = 130°F
4" above opening = 140°F
IMPORTANT
Leaving the venting ports open
requires a minimum chase
height of 8' and a chase opening
of at least 100² inches
