CAUTION
CORRUPTED DATA! The LAN connection to the BNC will maintain software
integrity and can maintain communication when subjected to low levels of
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) directly to the LAN connector.
When operating in an environment where ESD pulses are in excess of 2500 volts,
using a ThinMAU adapter (instead of a direct connection) is more reliable and less
susceptible to data corruption from ESD to the LAN cable.
Use either the BNC or the AUI connector. Do NOT use both. The LAN interface
will not work with both connected at the same time.

Step 3: Install host software

1 If you have not already done so, install the LAN software on your host computer.
2 If you are using a UNIX(R)-based workstation, install the interface software now.
HP supplies the ipconfig700 command as part of the HP B1471 64700 Operating
Environment software. This command will greatly simplify the task of configuring
the LAN connection.
