4 Handling
INFORMATION
► The daily duration of use and period of application are generally deter­
mined by the physician.
► The initial fitting and application of the product must be carried out by
qualified personnel.
► Instruct the patient in the handling and care of the product.
► Instruct the patient to see a physician immediately if any exceptional
changes are noted (e.g. worsening of the complaint).
4.1 Selecting the Size
1) Determine the hand width.
2) Determine the brace size (see size chart).
4.2 Adaptation
Adapting the splint
1) Open the hook-and-loop closure on the pocket (see fig. 2).
2) Pull the splint out of the pocket (see fig. 3).
3) Cold mold the splint to suit the individual patient.
4) Slide the adapted splint into the pocket and fasten the hook-and-loop
closure.
Adapting the pad
► Unfasten the pad and reposition it to suit the individual patient.
Adjusting the back strap width
1) Pull the back strap through the slits integrated into the brace.
2) Reposition the back strap and adjust it to the size of the individual
patient's forearm.
Adjusting the middle strap
► Undo the middle strap and position it so it lies between the ulnar head
and the carpal bones.
Adjusting the front strap
► Undo the front strap and adjust it to the circumference of the individual
patient's hand.
