5.3.2 Maintaining the splitting knife

5.4 Monthly maintenance (200 hrs)

The 200 hr maintenance is intended to be performed between long work periods, roughly after every
20–30 days of use. Clean the machine and check the adjustments to prevent any problems from
occurring.
A
Translation
Performing splitting knife maintenance before each
season of use is always recommended. Smooth out
any unevenness and bends in the knife with an
angle grinder, for example, at a length of approx. 30
mm (20 °). Use a file, for example, to finish the
sharp tip to a 90 ° angle at a length of approx. 2
mm. Note that the horizontal knives are only
sharpened on one side.

A. Spindle mover joint
B. Valve lock end
Lubricating the spindle mover joint: Lift the edge
of the spindle mover's rubber cover and spray
lubrication oil on both edges of the hinge pin and
on the ball end. At the same time, ensure that the
rubber cover is undamaged.
B
Lubricating the valve lock end: There is a small
hole in the middle of the end plate of the valve
lock end, through which lubrication oil can be
sprayed onto the valve's moving parts. Use oil
that does not harden in freezing temperatures.
The conveyor drive end features two pedestal
bearings that must be lubricated with a grease
gun.
The return end bearings are self-lubricated, which
means that they do not require maintenance.
