6-9. Installation of the Tape Drive

1. When installing the tape drive, the following
precautions should be followed.
The tape drives are heavy. The DTF tape drive (GY se-
ries) is about 20 kg. Therefore, follow the procedures of
this manual to install the tape drive, otherwise the tape
drive will fall over and cause serious injury.
. Two or more persons must work together to install
the DTF tape drive.
. Follow the rack mounting procedures described in
this manual.
2. Do not install the tape drive GY-2120 and GY-
8240/DIR-240 together.
To maintain an appropriate operating environment, the
tape drive GY-2120 and GY-8240/DIR-240 cannot be
installed together.

6-9-1. Basic Console

When the extension console is connected or under some
installation conditions of the basic console, the stage panel
may hinder the top and bottom drive stages on the right of
the basic console from disengaging depending on the angle
of the opened stage panel when the drive stages are pulled
out. Therefore, pull out the drive stage while removing the
stage panel.

Installation Procedure of GY-2120 or GY-8240/

The feet must be replaced before installing the GY-2120.
Prepare the following parts.
. DRIVE FOOT ASSYs : 4 pcs
(Sony part number : X-3605-849-1)
Replacing the GY-2120 Feet
Remove the four screws, remove the four feet that are
attached to the bottom of the GY-2120, and replace the feet
with the specified ones.

1. Installing in the bottom stage of the drive

(1) Loosen the four screws (with drop-safe) and open the
drive stage panel.
