Operating Instructions – Explosion-Protected MOVIMOT
If the motor is operated in environments with high environmental impact, such as in-
creased ozone levels, EDR. motors can optionally be equipped with higher-quality
gaskets. If you have doubts regarding the stability of the gaskets in connection with
the respective environmental impacts, consult SEW-EURODRIVE.
INFORMATION
To avoid exceeding the permissible temperature, you may only operate the

MOVIMOT
drive in accordance with the operating characteristics, see "Operating
characteristics" in the "Technical data" chapter.
®
•
MOVIMOT
drives in category 3D come equipped with a temperature switch (TH).
The TH trips if the motor winding temperature exceeds the maximum value.
•
The tripping of the TH must be monitored by an independent evaluation unit.
•
Disconnect the drive from the power supply source when the TH triggers.
•
The TH automatically switches itself back on when the temperature drops below
the maximum value. A restart lock must prevent the drive from starting again.
•
Notice: Do not switch the drive back on until the cause of the problem has been
checked. This check must be performed by a trained specialist.
In conjunction with the setpoint converter MLA12A, the TH is already wired at the fac-
tory. When the TH trips, the DC 24 V supply of the MOVIMOT
and the drive is stopped. At the same time, the ready contact of MOVIMOT
(terminal ready signal).
A restart lock must prevent the drive from being energized again automatically when
the TH switches back on.

Successful installation of decentralized drives depends on selecting the correct
cables, providing correct grounding, and a functioning equipotential bonding.
Always adhere to the relevant standards. Observe the following notes:
•
Equipotential bonding
Low-impedance, HF-capable equipotential bonding must be provided independent
of the functional ground (PE terminal) (see also VDE 0113 or VDE 0100 part 540)
using, for example
– flat contact surface connection of metal components
– flat grounding strips (HF litz wire)
Do not use the cable shield of data lines for equipotential bonding.
