Place a loft joist flush on the front side of each of the back two rafters.
Attach each joist with one 3" nail toenailed through the joist into the top plate.

Nail through loft joist into the rafter with two 3" nails.

Check rafters are still 24" on center.
FINISH

You have finished installing your loft joists.
