5.3 Topologies and downstream devices

EtherCAT

supports flexible topologies when building a network.

For example, line, star, ring and tree structures are possible. The

two ports of the R-Series V EtherCAT

inside the sensor. Therefore, a power failure of the sensor leads to the

interruption of communication to the devices connected behind it. This

can be avoided, for example, by extending a line structure to a ring

structure.
