Paper Feed Mechanism

The paper feed mechanism of this printer consists of the ASF, tractor, PF (Paper Feed) motor, front/rear PE
(Paper End) sensors, PF roller, paper guide mechanism, paper eject mechanism, and PF motor drive
disengage mechanism. The PF motor drives the ASF and tractor mechanisms, PF roller, and paper eject
mechanism. When the printer is not printing, the PF motor drive disengage mechanism detects the CR
position and engages the gear for the ASF mechanism. While the paper feed mechanism is active, the PF
motor engages the PF motor pinion and disengage gears to turn the PF roller. The PF roller drives the paper
eject mechanism via the gear train in the paper guide mechanism and also drives the ASF when the
transmission gear is engaged. The tractor drive gear train is at the left end of the PF roller. Table 2-3 and
Table 2-4 show specifications for the PF motor and PF motor control variables, respectively. Figure 2-5
illustrates the paper feed mechanism.
