Cause
Symptom: CR motor operates abnormally
Check visually if any foreign object is
in the CR mechanism.
Check if the resistance of the motor
coil is as follows:
5Ω ± 7% at 25 °C per phase
(Refer to Table 5-1.)
Check if the timing belt is installed at
the specified position in the CR unit.
Check if the timing belt is bent, worn,
or is missing some teeth.
Check if some teeth of the sub pulley
are broken.
Move the CR manually and check if it
moves smoothly.
Check if the timing belt has
appropriate tension.
Check if the platen gap is the proper
width.
Symptom: The printer does not print.
Check if the FFC is connected to the
printhead and main board.
Check if there is continuity using the
multimeter.
Install a new cartridge and run the
Self-test. (The user might have
removed and reinstalled the cartridge
several times.)
Use the driver to clean the printhead at
least 3 times. Run a nozzle test after
each cleaning. If there's no
improvement, replace the printhead
and run the self-test.

Reinstall the timing
belt properly.

Clean and lubricate
the CR guide shaft.

Adjust the platen gap.

Connect the FFC
securely.
Replace the head
FFC.
Replace the ink
cartridge.
Replace the printhead.
