For an S8700-Series Server, two upgrade paths exist:

An S8710 must have a DAL2 card installed to run Communication Manager 5.x.

From Release 1.x to 5.x:
Important:
S8700-Series Servers cannot upgrade to Communication Manager 5.0 or later
releases. For Communication Manager 5.0 and later releases, an S8700 Server must
migrate to an S8710, S8720, or S8730 Server. For more information on how to
migrate the S8700-Series Servers see Migrating Avaya Servers and Media Gateways,
03-300412.
From Release 2.x to Release 5.x. This upgrade requires:

- - An updated RFA license and authentication file (if required)
- - A preupgrade service pack
- - DAL2 card installation in the S8720 Server (if hardware duplication)
- - DAL2 card installation in the S8710 Server
From Release 3.x/4.x/5.x to Release 5.x. This upgrade requires:
