Reprocessing
Machine cleaning and disinfection
Perform machine cleaning and disinfection using a
washer-disinfector in accordance with EN ISO
15883, preferably with a cart for anesthesia
accessories and ventilation accessories.
Procedure:
1 Observe the instructions for use for the washer-
disinfector.
2 Securely position items in the basket. Make
sure that all interior spaces and surfaces are
completely flushed and that water can drain off
freely.
3 Use a suitable cleaning agent.
4 Select suitable program, preferably anesthesia
program.
– Thermal disinfection must be carried out at
93 °C (199 °F) for 10 minutes.
5 Carry out final rinsing with deionized water.
6 Immediately remove items from the washer-
disinfector.
7 Check items for visible soiling and damage. If
necessary, repeat program or perform manual
cleaning and disinfection.
8 Allow items to dry thoroughly.
Visual inspection
Check all items for damage and external signs of
wear, such as cracking, embrittlement, or
pronounced hardening, and residual dirt.
CAUTION
Risk from faulty accessories
Even reusable accessories have a limited service
life, e.g., disinfectant residues can corrode the
material during autoclaving. External signs of
wear can occur, e.g., cracks, deformations, dis-
colorations, or peeling.
If signs of external wear occur, replace the affect-
ed accessory.

Sterilization
For sterilization, use a vacuum steam sterilizer
(conforming to ISO 17665), preferably with
fractionated vacuum.
 Only sterilize cleaned and disinfected items.
– Sterilize with a fractionated vacuum steam
procedure at 132 °C (270 °F) for 4 minutes.
– The sterilizable handle must not be subjected to
mechanical load during sterilization. Otherwise,
it may be permanently deformed.
– The sterilizable handle must not be reattached
until immediately before an operation.
WARNING
Risk of infection
If the sterilizable handle exhibits cracks or de-
formation as a result of frequent sterilization,
the handle may fall into the operation field
and/or may not satisfy the infection preven-
tion policy.
Make sure that the handle is not used in the
event of such damage.
