Connecting to the Modem

This procedure only applies to a FrameSaver 9126 or 9128, which has an integral
modem.
1. Insert the RJ11C connector on the modem cable into the Modem/MDM interface.
2. Insert the other end of the cable into the phone service RJ11C jack.

Verification Check:

If Port Use is set to Terminal (dial-in access), dial the modem's phone number
using a remote async terminal or PC and verify that the Main Menu appears.

If Port Use is set to Net Link (SNMP, Telnet, FTP, and trap dial-out), dial the
modem's phone number using a PC running PPP or SLIP link protocol and run the
IP Ping test to the modem interface (see Verifying the End-to-End Path on
page 20).
Results using either method:
– If successful, the modem setup is correct.
– If not successful, make sure the cable connections are secure, then verify that
the modem was configured correctly (see Setting Up the Modem on page 12).
Otherwise, refer to the status information in Displaying System Information of
the User's Guide.
Proceed to Connecting to the ISDN on page 26 if the FrameSaver unit is equipped with
a DBM.
