2. Restrictions in Page Mode
The following restrictions in Page Mode should be noted:
(1) Half-dot printing is, not available.
Only normal dot printing is allowed in the Page Mode. Therefore, any
down load characters and bit image containing the 7X7 dot font and
half dots, cannot be specified. Since the values in
are set using half-dot units, the printer converts them to normal dot
units. In this case, the values may be shifted by one half-dot.
The following commands are then disabled.
• 7X7 font specification in ESC !
• Double-density bit image specification in
(2) Any command that performs a reverse paper feed is invalid.
Since multiple data sets can be written freely within the memory in Page
Mode, the commands ESC
paper feeding are invalid.
(3) Upside-down character specification is invalid.
In Page Mode, characters and bit images can be rotated in units of
90 degrees several times to allow 4 different character or image orientations.
Because of this, ESC { for setting/canceling upside-down printing is
invalid.
(4) Duplication is not allowed.
If two data sets are written to the same location in memory, the logical
sum (OR) of the two sets is calculated and stored in Page Mode.
Therefore, the printer never duplicates a dot. This means that characters
and images cannot be intensified or emphasized by duplicating dots.
(5) Underline specification is invalid.
Since characters and bit images can be freely overlapped in Page Mode,
underlining using ESC
line, various types of lines such as dashed and wavy (using bit image)
can be added as underlines during Page Mode.
