o) Lift the disk drive backplane out of the chassis and place the disk drive backplane on an
appropriate ESD surface.
15. Remove the fans enough to prevent them from interfering with the removal of the system backplane:
a) Put your thumb against the front of the latch, (A) as shown in the following figure, and put your
index finger against the rear of the latch.
b) Push against the latch with your thumb and pull out with your index finger. This action releases
the latch.
c) Rotate the handle in the direction shown in the following figure to unlock the fan from its slot.
d) After the fan unlatches, unplug but do not remove fan from its slot. Pull the fan out far enough to
prevent it from interfering with the removal of the system backplane. See the following figure.
e) Repeat "15.a" on page 47 through "15.d" on page 47 for the other fans.
