b) After the drive unlatches, unplug but do not remove the front drive from its slot. Using the drive
lever, pull the drive about 2.5 cm (1 in) from the system or far enough to prevent it from interfering
with the removal of the disk drive backplane.
c) Repeat "13.a" on page 36 through "13.b" on page 38 for the other front drives.
14. Remove the disk drive backplane:
• If you have a base function disk drive backplane, complete "14.a" on page 38 through "14.e" on
page 41.
• If you have a 12-drive expanded function disk drive backplane, complete "14.f" on page 41
through "14.j" on page 44.
• If you have an 18-drive expanded function disk drive backplane, complete "14.k" on page 44
through "14.o" on page 47.
a) Label and disconnect the signal cable (A) and the power cable (B) from the disk drive backplane
and system backplane as shown in the following figure. Unlatch the clips that secure the
connectors to the disk drive backplane.
