Fitting MAGIC CONTROL
7.2
Fitting the tyre sensors
The tyre sensors are delivered in what is known as sleep mode. The sensors
are activated at a tyre pressure of 0.5 bar and then start sending data
automatically.
Caution
The sensor may only be fitted by a qualified workshop.
➤ Remove the wheels from the vehicle and take the tyres off the wheels
(7, page 5 to 0, page 6).
➤ Remove the existing valves.
➤ Temporarily place the tyre sensor in the wheel (a, page 6).
➤ Check the spacing of the sensor (b 1, page 7) from the wheel and select
suitable spacers (b 2, page 7) (b A to D, page 7).
If the tyre sensor lies flush, spacers are not required.
➤ Place any spacers used at the front end of the sensor (c 1, page 7).
Make sure the spacers are correctly aligned (c 2, page 7).
➤ Put the sensor (d 1, page 7) back in and tighten it to a torque of 5 Nm
(d, page 7).
➤ Now use a small screwdriver to push the spacers (e 2, page 7)
away from the valve (e 1, page 7) until the sensor is firmly fastened
(e, page 7).
Caution
When putting on the tyre, always start opposite the valve.
Otherwise, the sensor might be damaged while you are fitting
the tyre.
➤ Pull the tyre back on the wheel (f, page 8 to h, page 8).
➤ Fill the tyre with air or nitrogen until it firmly touches the wheel
(i, page 8).
➤ Use a water bath to check that the valve is tight (j, page 8).
➤ Fill the tyre to the pressure specified by the manufacturer (k, page 9).
➤ Balance the tyre (l, page 9).
