Cockpit tub

The Tutor kit features an ABS moulded cockpit
tub, this includes a dash board, floor, seats
and cockpit back. This can be made into a
convincing scale cockpit using off the shelf
additional scale parts like Graupner's ¼ scale
instruments and MAF full body pilot busts.
Even a simple grey painted tub with no detail
will enhance the look of your Tutor over an
empty space.
Trim the various parts to remove the excess
material, cut to the scribed lines as indicated.
The dashboard benefits from some scrap wood
bonded to the back of the flat dash. Install the
main hatch and notch the back bulkhead to clear
the side lip and hinged canopy lugs. It may be
necessary to trim the canopy frame rear lip to
clear the cockpit back panel where it sits on the
fuselage cockpit side. Fix the back bulkhead
to the cockpit base using the moulded back lip

as a guide to the required angle. It leans back
slightly. The cockpit floor sits on two wood rails
glued either side of the fuselage. The base and
back bulkhead go in as one and are fitted with a
strip of Velcro on each wood rail, or screwed in
position. The cockpit is easier to remove if you
Velcro the seats in position within the cockpit
tub too.
