Installation Plate

The main services installation plate is pre drilled
and slotted to suit equipment recommended by
CARF-models. If you have ordered the CARF
pneumatic pack and will use a JetCat turbine
your work is much reduced. (Photo 30)
The turbine accessories are mounted on one
side of this board and the air system valves
on the opposite side. Plan your installation by
working on the various connections that need
to be made in, around and under the installation
plate. Working from the front of the aeroplane
is easier and the space increases as you
move rearwards!
The Tutor comes out quite tail heavy, so install
as much equipment as possible in the nose area.
The use of large heavy batteries is a benefit,
less charging and less dead weight. Either way
the overall weight of the Tutor makes for a very
lightly loaded aeroplane.
The optional air system includes a single air
tank, which holds sufficient capacity to operate
the gear, doors and brake system. The builder
has the choice of using a second tank for the
brake system, as there is ample space for an
additional tank. In this case the air supply for
gear and doors should be split to supply the two
double action Jet Tronic valves. The installation
shown, features T pieces located close to the
valves, splitting the air to supply the nose and
wing units and further T pieces on the lines
to the wing to split the supply for each wing.
Five airlines are required to each wing, air up
and down for gear and gear doors and main
wheel brakes. There are 10 pairs of ¼ turn
connectors supplied for the wing/fuselage joint.
Use difference colour airline fitted with colour
tape or markers and mix the male/female sides
to ensure the wings are connected correctly
each time.

The fuel system is critical to the operation
of any jet turbine model. All the equipment
supplied by CARF-models is fit for use and used
by all the team pilots. The installation shown
has the header tank mounted close to the main
fuel tank and fuel pump forward of this position.
Use large bore tubing with this set up. The tank
overflow fitting is formed from the brass tube
supplied or any large bore fitting of your own
choice (minimum 3mm inside diameter)
If you are new to turbines and require further
information and help your CARF-models rep
will be happy to advise you.
