Features
● Simplified application when compared to a closed-loop control using an analog encoder
splitter
● Increased degree of ruggedness
● Fewer hardware components
● Multi-winding motors are supported
● Can be operated with a higher-level open-loop control system
● Incremental and absolute encoders are supported
● Safety Basic Functions possible on all drive objects
SERVCOUP principle of operation
With the OA application SERVCOUP motors can be operated which, as a result of the size
and/or type of construction, cannot be operated on an individual SINAMICS power unit.
Corresponding to the size and/or type of construction, motors are split up into several drive
objects, which correspond to the windings, segments or primary sections/stators. These
drive objects are then operated on a Motor Module and controlled from the OA application
SERVCOUP. Only one encoder is required to operate up to 6 drive objects; this encoder
must be connected to the master drive object via DRIVE-CLiQ. The OA application
SERVCOUP then handles the closed-loop control for all drive objects using a master-slave
coupling in the drive. The encoder values of the master drive object are transferred via a
digital encoder splitter in the Control Unit to a maximum of five additional slave drive objects
without encoder. With these encoder values – and the torque setpoint of the master drive
object transferred to them – all of the slave drive objects implement their own current
controller. In this way, a motor with up to 6 drive objects can be operated without requiring
an analog encoder splitter.
