Electrical connection
Risk of electric shock
Voltage is induced at the power connections of the stator segment each time a rotor
segment moves with respect to a stator segment – and vice versa.
When the motor is switched on, the stator segment power connections are also live (at a
specific voltage).
If you touch the power connections you may suffer an electric shock.
Stator segments are available with power connections for currents higher than 66 A. When
these stator segments are delivered, the contacts of the power connectors have a
protective cover so that they cannot be touched. Once the stator segment has been
installed, and the power connector closed, then the contacts are also protected so they
cannot be touched.
If the power connectors are opened, the contact pins (male) and contact sockets (female)
can be touched. There is a risk of electric shock.
• Only mount and remove electrical components if you have been qualified to do so.
• Only work on the motor when the system is in a no-voltage condition.
• Do not touch the power connections. Correctly connect the motor power connections or
• Do not disconnect the power connection if the stator segment is under voltage (live).
• When connecting up, only use power cables intended for the purpose.
• First connect the protective conductor (PE).
• Attach the shield through a large surface area.
• First connect the power cable to the stator segment before you connect the power cable
• First disconnect the connection to the converter before you disconnect the power
• In the final step, disconnect the protective conductor (PE).

currents higher than 66 A:
– Only remove the protective cover for the contact pins (male) and contact sockets
(female) when mounting the motor and commissioning it.
– Install the protective conductor (PE) before you attach the power connector.
– Tighten the fixing screws for the power connectors as specified. The tightening
torque is specified in drawing "Cable kit 1FW68 higher than 66 A".
– Reattach the protective cover over the contact pins and contact sockets after you
have opened the power connector.
– Ensure that all of the power connectors are connected to the stator segment before
you switch on the drive system.
