Firmware installation using PC
(1) Press and hold the [X] and [to USB] keys simultaneously, and plug the AC power cord
into the outlet. Check that the Power LED and the Error LED are lit, and release these
two keys.
(2) Press the [X], [to USB], [to PC], and [X] keys in this order.
The to Network Device1 LED, to Network Device2 LED, and to Network Device3 LED
flash and the machine enters the maintenance mode.
(3) Connect the computer to the machine with the USB cable.
(4) Turn ON the power switch of the computer.
(5) Open the temporary folder and double-click "Filedg32.exe" to start it, and select the
"Brother Maintenance USB Printer".
(6) Drag and drop the firmware (LZXXXX_$.djf) in the same folder onto the "Brother
Maintenance USB Printer" icon. The firmware file is loaded to the machine, and installing
to the flash ROM starts.
(7) The power supply LED and error LED flash randomly during installing. When installing is
completed, the machine restarts and returns to the ready state automatically. Do not
disconnect the USB cable or turn OFF the power switch of the computer until installing is
completed.
(8) Unplug the AC power cord of the machine, and disconnect the USB cable.
Note:
• When the machine starts while the to Network Device LED is flashing, flash ROM gets
initialized by overwriting the Firm and the country code is not set yet.
