Emerson 404B Infrared Phototach description of intended
use
The 404B Infrared Phototach is a self-contained, reflective sensor. The 404B
Infrared Phototach is relatively immune to ambient light sources, making it
ideal for outdoor use in areas where reflected light and glare cause
conventional phototachs to malfunction. It provides direct readings up to
20,000 RPM at distances up to three feet. Distances may vary with RPM. The
phototach's small effective beam makes it a good choice for sensing
relatively small objects, while its visible red light makes it extremely easy to
align.
The 404B Infrared Phototach is intended to be used with an AMS 2140
Machinery Health Analyzer, with or without an optional 408 battery pack.
The 404B Infrared Phototach can be powered directly from an AMS 2140
Machinery Health Analyzer with the cable provided in the package. The
optional 408 battery pack may also be used with the 404B Infrared Phototach
for extended use.
The 404B Infrared Phototach can only be connected directly to the AMS 2140
Machinery Health Analyzer via the required tach cable purchased from
Emerson. See the AMS 2140 Machinery Health Analyzer User Manual for
more information.
The 404B Infrared Phototach is an accessory to the AMS 2140 Machinery
Health Analyzer. This document includes the basic instructions for setting up
the 404B Infrared Phototach and connecting it to the AMS 2140 Machinery
Health Analyzer.
