The 404B Infrared Phototach is intended to be used with an AMS 2140 Machinery Health Analyzer, with or without an optional 408 battery pack. The 404B Infrared Phototach can be powered directly from an AMS 2140 Machinery Health Analyzer with the cable provided in the package. - Page 4 Figure 1-1: Emerson 404B Infrared Phototach Overview This document describes the basic connections and set up for the 404B Infrared Phototach. Refer to the AMS 2140 Machinery Health Analyzer User Guide for detailed instructions for data collection. Clean the product To clean the exterior of the phototach or battery pack, use only a dry, lint- free towel or cloth dampened with a mild soap and water solution.

Use the reflective tape provided as your fixed reference to be able to start collecting data from rotating equipment. Proper operation of the 404B Infrared Phototach requires it to be mounted securely and properly aligned.
