Lesson 2 – Waveform Digitizer Setup with the Analog Setup Tool
Sequencer Programming
The following figure shows the main building blocks of an analog
module:
General Block Diagram of Analog Modules
Every analog module has its own independent sequencer which
gets its instructions from a sequencer program in the sequencer
memory. The sequencer program consists of command lines that
are created with the Analog Setup Tool.
The sequencer commands refer to waveform labels. Waveform
labels define areas in the module's waveform memory. These areas
will finally hold the digital representation of waveforms to be
generated or of waveforms that where sampled.
Waveform Memory Setup
When setting up the waveform memory, the memory areas (arrays)
to hold waveform data are automatically allocated, in order to
minimize gaps and to decrease the access time to the waveform
data.
Analog Sets
The complete analog setup for a device or test can be stored in one
analog set. You can create up to 256 analog sets and store them in
one analog setup file.
An analog set includes the hardware settings of the analog cores
as well as the sequencer programs, waveform labels and clock
domain settings.
