Key Switch
Tests
The G
and
M
ter
minals
of the
key
switch control
the
RUN and OFF circuit of the ign ition system
.
The lights
are
operated through
the termina ls
marked Band L.
(See Figure 3
-4.
)

To
test the
key
switch
:
1.
Remove the main wiring
harness connector
from the
key
switch terminals
.
2.
Set the ohmmeter to high
ohm sca
le
(X100)
and connect
one
ohmmeter lead to
the key
switch G terminal and the
other ohmmeter
lead to M
.

3-5 .)

3.
With
the
key
switch
in
the
RUN position,
the
ohmmeter should show
open circu it (co).
Re
-
place the
switch
if
the needle moves
off
of
in-
f
inity
(00)
.
4.
Turn the
key switch
to OFF position
.
Meter
should now
indi
cate
closed circuit (0). Replace
the switch if
the needle
does not move
to
O.
5.
Set the ohmmeter to
low
ohmscale (X1) and
connect one ohmmeter
lead to
the
key
switch
B termina
l
and
the other
lead
to
L.

6.
Turn the key
switch
to RUN
/
LIGHTS
position.
The
ohmmeter should
indicate
a closed circuit
(0). Replace the key switch if
the
meter does
not
indicate
O.
7.
With the
key switch
positioned in RUN or OFF,
the
ohmmeter
must
indicate
an open circuit
(00).
Replace the key switch
if
<Xl
is
not ob-
served
.
8.
Reconnect the main wIring harness connector
to the key switch terminals
.
