Disassembly
of VM32
Econo Jet Carburetor
1.
Select a clean
work
area for disassembling the
carburetor.
Most
carburetor
problems
are
caused by dirt in the system
.
2.
Clean the carburetor with fuel and
blow
dry
with compressed air before disassembling
.
Do
not blow high pressure air through the car-
buretor until it is disassembled.
3.
Remove
fou
r
screws with spring
assemb lies
(See Figure 3-20.) Separate the float
chamber
body from the upper carburetor body. Remove
t
he two vent
tu
bes
and econo
jet t ube
from
upper
carburetor body. Remove the gasket.
4.
If replacement
is
necessary, push out
t
he
f loat
pin and remove
the
f
loat
arm
.
5.
Remove
the
two floats from
th
e
f loat chamber
body
.
6.
Remove the needle
jet
holder. This will re
-
lease
the needle
j
et.
If necessary,
ta
p
t
he
car-
buretor body to loosen the needle
jet,
and push
the needle
jet
out
through
the top of the car
-
buretor body.

Carefully remove
the
f loat
valve
assembly.
Re-
move
washers and
f
loat chamber plate
from
the carburetor
body.
8.
Remove the pilot
jet,
throttle stopscrew, spring,
pilot air screw, spring, main econo
jet,
main
jet,
cap,
fu
el
adjusting screw and spring.
Cleaning VM32 Carburetor
Thoroughly clean all parts w
ith
a
mild
solvent or
fu el
/
oil
mixture.
Inspect
all
drilled
holes, openings
and
f
uel
passages
in
the body. Blow compressed
air through
the
passages
.
Remove any sediment
from
the fuel bowl.
Use of carburetor cleaners may be necessary
to
re-
move gum and varnish bu
ild
-
up
from the
jets
and
float chamber. DO
NOT
USE DRILLS OR
WIRES to
clea
n
the
jets
or damage to the jets will result
.
Reassembly of
VM32
Carubretor
Left 32/120 and
Right 32/121
Check carburetor parts
for
proper
identification
markings prior
to
reassembly
.
If the correct
com-
ponents
are not installed
the
carburetor cannot
be
calibrated
properly.

Turn
in the
screw about 10
turns
.

Insert
the spring and pi lot air screw
in
the
carburetor
body.
Turn
the screw all
the way in
.
Then
turn
out
1
-
3
/
4
turns
for
initial
adjustments
.

Install pilot jet,
main
/
econo
jet,
main
jet, new
O-ring, spr ing, fuel
adj
usting
screw and
cap.
4.
Position a
new
gasket,
washers
and
baffle
plate on the upper carburetor body. Install
the
float valve assembly. Tighten
25 -30 in
.

5.
If the

arm was removed,
install
the float
arm and
secure with
fl
oat pin.
Be sure
the pin
is securely seated.
