Check
the
condition of the grounded BROWN
wire
between the
ring terminal at the engine
connector
an
d the
r
ing
term inal
on the pri-
mary
of the ig nition coi I.
a. Remove
the
screw
securing
each
ring
terminal
to
ground.
b. Set
meter to low ohms
sca le (X1)
.
Connect
one ohm meter lead to the ring terminal
re
-
moved from the ground at the
ignition
coil.
Connect the other
ohm
meter lead to the ring
terminal
removed
from the ground at
the
engine connector.
(See
Figure 3-2
.)
c.
If ohmmeter indicates
closed circu
it
(0),
BROWN ground
wire
between the engine con-
nector and the ignition co il is
okay.
d.
If
ohmmeter
indicates open
circ uit
(<Xl)
or
h igh
resist
ance
,
BROWN ground wire
is defec-
tive.
Check BROWN
wire
connection at
the r
ing
termina ls,
the
three
wire
connector between
COl ign
iter and ignition coil. If the wire checks
okay,
replace
the COl
igniter.
The
following
tips can he
lp
you locate your
ignition
problem
.
1.
A defective exc iter coil, COl igniter,
ignition
coil,
key
switch or emergency
stop
switch can be
the cause
of
no
spark,
weak
spa
rk
or
inter
-
mittent spark.
