Oil Tank
Removal

Remove oil tank retaining band, and lift tank to
allow access
to
elbow fittings on bottom. (See
Figure 3 -155.)
2.
Pull oil level tube from fitting at the top of tank
and allow oil to drain into a container of
sufficient
capacity to hold the entire
2- 1/
2
quarts
(2.37
liters) of oil tank capacity
if
necessary. (See Figure 3-155 .)
3.
Disconnect remaining vent and feed tubes and
remove
tank.
Inspection
1.
Wash
remaining
oil and res idue
from
tank with
a mild solvent
.
2.
Exami ne ta nk for damage,
cracks
or leaks.
Repair or
replace
as
necessary.
Allow solvent
to dry from tank if the
ta
nk is to be reused
.
3.
Be
sure pick up pipe is installed
in
the fitting
that supplies oil to
the
oil pump
.

If pick up pipe is not installed in the supply
line fitting foreign matter may enter oil
pump resulting in engine failure.
