If the system detects that you are driving onto a
section of road in the wrong direction of travel, it
triggers a warning.
The camera also detects traffic signs with a
restriction indicated by an additional sign (e.g. in
wet conditions).
Warning when the maximum permissible
speed is exceeded
The system can warn you if you unintentionally
exceed the maximum permissible speed. To do
this, you can specify in the multimedia system by
how much the maximum permissible speed can
be exceeded before a warning is issued. You can
specify whether the warning is to be just a visual
warning or an audible one as well.

two valid traffic signs are detected at the
same time, a plus sign appears next to the
traffic sign in the instrument display as an
indication that both traffic signs are dis‐
played in the navigation system.
Since Traffic Sign Assist also uses the data
stored in the navigation system, it can also
update the display without detecting traffic signs:

System limitations
The system may be impaired or may not function
in the following situations:
if there is poor visibility, e.g. due to insuffi‐
R
cient illumination of the road, if there are
highly variable shade conditions or in rain,
snow, fog or heavy spray
if there is glare, e.g. from oncoming traffic,
R
direct sunlight or reflections
if the windscreen in the area of the multifunc‐

tion camera is dirty, or if the camera is misted
up, damaged or covered
if the traffic signs are hard to detect, e.g. due
R
to dirt, because they are covered, due to
snow or insufficient lighting
if the information in the navigation system's
R
digital map is incorrect or out-of-date
if the signs are ambiguous, e.g. traffic signs
R
on construction sites or in adjacent lanes
Blind Spot Assist
Function of Blind Spot Assist with exit warn‐
ing
Blind Spot Assist uses two lateral, rear-facing
radar sensors to monitor the area directly next to
and on the side behind the vehicle.
& WARNING Risk of accident despite Blind
Spot Assist
Blind Spot Assist reacts neither to stationary
objects nor to vehicles approaching and over‐
taking you at a greatly different speed.
As a result, Blind Spot Assist cannot warn
drivers in these situations.
