The switches are in three switch assemblies. In this publication, we show
and describe switches as being ON or OFF. Printed on the actual switch
assemblies are the words ON and OFF or the word OPEN. OPEN
corresponds to OFF.
These switch assemblies are identified by the nomenclature S1 through
S3. This designation is printed on the printed circuit board just above
each switch assembly.
Use a blunt-pointed instrument, such as a ball-point pen, to set these
switches. Never use a pencil; lead could jam the switch.
Communication Mode
Set the communication-mode switches to select the communication mode
of the RS-422/449 link to the host device.
To Select
This Mode:
PAD
Native
Supervisory
Important: You can still access the MMFS 1393 command set in Native
mode. This means that you can send MMFS 1393 commands to a MMFS
1393 device connected to a 1779-KFL Asynchronous-Device Interface.
With the PAD mode selection, the 1779-KFM interface communicates
with the host across the RS-449 link in a packet assembler/disassembler
(PAD) protocol.
The MMFS 1393 mode selection is for future product enhancement. Do
not select this mode.
With the NATIVE mode selected, the host can transmit messages in any
of several message sets which it selects through the SEL byte it transmits
in each message header.
