message; it is not in the corresponding RC control reply message. The
possible command-field hexadecimal values are:
00 — Store Remote Command
01 — Read Remote Command
02 — Initiate Remote Command
03 — Delete Remote Command
04 — Store/Initiate/Delete Remote Command
RCQ (Remote Command Quantity) — This one-byte field specifies
the quantity of remote commands to be initiated. This field is only in the
initiate command; it is not in the corresponding reply. In this field you
can specify a maximum quantity of 122 (79 hexadecimal).
RCID (Remote Command Identifier) — This one-byte field identifies
the remote command by number. When you send each remote command
to be stored, you identify each by the value in this field. Likewise, when
you tell the remote node to read, initiate, or delete a remote command,
you must identify the remote command with this field. This field is also
in the read RC reply and initiate RC reply. Remote commands you
identify by hexadecimal values 00 through FE are stored in volatile
memory. A remote command you identify by hexadecimal value FF is
stored in non-volatile memory.
STS (Remote Command Status) — This one-byte field appears only in
a reply to a successfully executed RC control command to initiate a
remote command. It indicates a successful completion (00) or an error in
the attempt to execute the remote command. The error codes would be
for either Data Highway messages or time-critical messages, depending
upon which type of message you specify for the remote command.
PROT (Remote Command Protection) — This two-byte field specifies
levels of protection for the remote command. When you tell the remote
station to store a remote command, you specify levels of protection to
define what stations are allowed to read the command, initiate the
command, delete the command, and store a new command under that ID.
This two-byte field is divided into sub-fields as follows:
