A keypad – This provides the main interface. It allows users to perform
functions such as to set or unset the system, access user options and
acknowledge alarms. Users can identify themselves to the system by
entering their unique access code at the keypad.
Figure 2 shows the purpose of each key.
A proximity tag reader – A proximity tag is a small plastic token that
contains a low-powered radio transmitter. Each user has a separate
tag. Presenting a tag allows the user to access the system in the same
way as if the user had entered their access code.
There is also a sounder inside the control unit, which produces alarm or
alert sounds.
