Troubleshooting

Symptom
None of the LEDs is
glowing.
LED 1 does not glow.
LED 2 does not glow.
LED 3 does not light up
for more than
5 minutes.
LED 4 glows red.
Problems in Detecting
the Sunny String-
Monitor.
Technical Description
Cause
Problems with the power
supply.
Anti-theft protection is activated.
Overvoltage protector has
tripped.
Problems with the data cable.
Failure of the control board of
the string current monitoring.
The Piggy-Back for data
processing is either missing or it
is not properly plugged.
The COM1 interface is not
configured properly.
The data cable in the last Sunny
String-Monitor of a string is not
terminated. Problems with
Sunny Central Control.
Corrective measures
• Check the +55 V power supply at
the connection area of the
respective Sunny String-Monitor.
• Check the wiring of the anti-theft
protection.
• Replace a protection module in
the overvoltage protector.
• Check data cable between Sunny
Central and Sunny String-Monitor,
and between the individual Sunny
String-Monitor.
• Contact the SMA Serviceline.
• Check that the RS485 Piggy-Back
is correctly mounted on the
measuring board.
• Check that the COM1 in the
Sunny Central Control is correctly
configured (see section
7.1.2 "Check the Serial Interface
Settings at the Sunny Central
Control", page 42).
• Check termination in the last
Sunny String-Monitor. The jumper
on the last measuring board of a
string must be plugged (see
chapter 5.7.5 "Terminating the
Data Cable", page 31).
• Check that the jumper has been
removed from the other measuring
boards in the individual Sunny
String-Monitor.
• Check that the bridge (PIN 7 – 9)
at the side of the Sunny Central
Control is mounted.
• Check that the COM1 at the
Sunny Central Control is equipped
with an RS485 Piggy-Back.
