    This installation manual describes the mounting, electrical connection and commissioning of the Schoolmeterbox. Store this manual where it will be accessible at all times. 1.1 Validity This manual applies to Schoolmeterbox models with Hardware version A or later and Firmware version 1.0 or later. 1.2 Target Group This manual is intended for the installer.

    The Schoolmeterbox retrieves counter pulses from the consumption meter and makes them available to the Sunny WebBox from the SMA Solar Technology. The data are used to display the energy use of the school. Communication takes places via RS485. The voltage is provided via a power supply plug.

    3.2 Identifying the Schoolmeterbox Type plate You can identify the Schoolmeterbox using the type plate on its underside.     Observe the following surrounding conditions: • The Schoolmeterbox is only suitable for indoor installation. • The maximal cable length between the Schoolmeterbox and the consumption meter should not exceed 0.5 m. • The Schoolmeterbox power supply plug requires a socket.

    1. Choose the mounting location as described in section 4.1„Mounting Location“ (8). 2. Fix the clip onto the bracket with the screw, as shown in the illustration. Turn the clip according to whether you want to mount the Schoolmeterbox vertically or horizontally.

    Electrical Connection Fasten the shield clamp 10. If the Schoolmeterbox is in the middle of the RS485 bus, carry out the following steps: – Push the clamp onto the shieldings of both cables. ☑ The Schoolmeterbox is connected to the RS485 bus.

    Consumption Meter Impulse Output S0 Connection + (e.g., +ve) - (e.g., -ve) 6. Introduce the plug in the Schoolmeterbox into the "S0" terminal. 7. Connect the other end of the cable to the consumption meter. ☑ The Schoolmeterbox is connected to the consumption meter.

The Schoolmeterbox is ready to send data to the Sunny WebBox. 6.2 Detecting the Schoolmeterbox with the Sunny WebBox Now you can detect the Schoolmeterbox as a device with the Sunny WebBox, as described in the Sunny WebBox manual. 6.2.1 Adjusting the Schoolmeterbox Channels The Schoolmeterbox channels are adjusted via the Sunny WebBox web interface.

    Maintenance and Care SMA Solar Technology AG 7 Maintenance and Care 7.1 Maintenance Conduct regular visual inspections of the Schoolmeterbox to check for external damage or dirt. 7.2 Care NOTICE! Damage to the device due to infiltration of liquids. The Schoolmeterbox is not impermeable, liquids should not be allowed to infiltrate.

    5. Remove the cable connections to other devices at the devices as described in the respective manuals of each device. 6. If the Schoolmeterbox was at the end of a RS485 bus, terminate the device which is now at the end of the RS485 bus instead of the Schoolmeterbox.
