SPEEDOMETER REPLACEMENT

NOTE:
S ervicin g of the speedom eter assem bly
should be p erfo rm ed by an authorized AC Speed­
o m eter S ervice Station.
Conventional Cab M odels
1. Rem ove instrum ent clu ster assem bly and laminated
c irc u it as p reviou sly d escrib ed in this section.
2. R em ove
retaining screw s and clu ster
3. R em ove fron t c o ver fro m face o f clu ster.
4. Rem ove two retaining screw s and speedom eter fro m
clu ster.
5. To in stall, r e v e r s e rem ova l procedu re and check op­
eration o f unit.

Flatface Cowl M odels
1. D isconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect speedom eter cable and a ll indicator and
illum inating sockets.
3. R em ove three s crew s attaching speedom eter housing
to dash panel.
4. P u ll speedom eter fro m opening in dash panel.
5. To in stall,

P M odels
1. R em ove instrum ent clu ster assem bly as p reviou sly
d escrib ed in this section.
2. R em ove four screw s secu rin g clu ster back panel to
b e z e l assem bly.
3. Rem ove two screw s secu ring speedom eter head to
c lu ster back panel; ca refu lly
head.
NOTE:
A ssem b le the two parts with alignm ent
dow els p ro p e rly positioned.

Tilt Cab M odels
1. R em ove instrum ent clu ster assem bly as p reviou sly
describ ed in this section.
2. R em ove eight screw s secu ring clu ster b e ze l to back
panel assem bly and rem o ve b ezel.
3. R em ove two scre w s attaching speedom eter head to
back panel assem bly and ca re fu lly rem ove speedom ­
e te r head.
4. To in stall,

SPEEDOMETER CABLE REPLACEMENT OR
LUBRICATION; ALL MODELS '
1. Disconnect speedom eter cable fro m the oversp eed
switch on T ilt Cab M od els, speedom eter head on
other m odels.
2. R em ove old cable by pulling it out fro m speedom eter
end o f conduit.
NOTE:
I f old cable is broken it w ill be n ec­
es s a ry to rem ove lo w e r p iece fro m transm ission
end of conduit.
3. Lubricate the lo w e r 3/4 length o f cable with speed ­
re a r co ver.

4. Connect the upper end o f cable to the speedom eter
head, o r oversp eed switch, and road test the truck
fo r p ro p er speedom eter-odom eter operation.

FUEL GAUGE REPLACEMENT

1 0 -6 0 Conventional Cab M odels (Figs. 9, 12)
1. Rem ove instrum ent clu ster assem bly as p revio u sly
describ ed in this section.
2. R em ove instrum ent lam ps, ground screw s and te r m i­
nal nuts retaining lam inated circu it to fuel gauge
section of clu ster assem bly.
3. C a refu lly m ove the lam inated circu it fro m fuel gauge
area and rem ove three retaining screw s, c o v e r and
gauge assem bly fro m clu ster housing.
4. Rem ove attaching nuts and gauge from c o v e r plate.
5. To in stall,
re v e r s e
rem ova l procedure and check
operation of unit.
Flatface Cowl M odels (Fig. 10)
1. Rem ove instrum ent clu ster assem bly as p revio u sly
d escribed in this section.
2. Uncrim p b e z e l (7 p la ces) and rem ove bezel.
3. Rem ove nuts securing fuel gauge to clu ster case and
rem ove gauge.
4. To in sta ll,

Tilt Cab M odels
1. Rem ove instrum ent clu ster as p reviou sly described
in this section.
2. Rem ove eight screw s securing clu ster b e ze l to back
panel assem bly and rem ove bezel.
3. Pull o ff plastic caps on term inal nuts and rem ove
term inal nuts; ca refu lly rem ove fuel gauge.
4. To install,
re v e r s e
rem ova l procedu re and check
operation o f unit.

TEMPERATURE INDICATO R LIGHT

1 0 -3 0 Conventional Cab M odels
The tem perature indicator circu it consists of two r e ­
m otely located units, indicator light and sender unit. The
lamp unit is a sin gle red ligh t which indicates an o v e r ­
heated engine condition.

TEMPERATURE GAUGE REPLACEMENT

4 0 -6 0 Conventional Cab M odels (Figs. 9, 12)
1. Rem ove instrum ent clu ster assem bly as previo u sly
described in this section.
2. Rem ove term in al nuts retaining lam inated c irc u it to
gauge unit.
3. Rem ove three attaching screw s, co v er and gauge a s ­
sem bly fro m clu ster housing.
4. Rem ove term in a l attaching nuts and gauge unit fro m
c o v e r plate.
5. To in stall, re v e r s e
rem ova l procedu re and check
operation of unit.
