5. R elease the s e le c to r le v e r . The le v e r should now be
inhibited fro m engaging re v e rs e
le v e r is lifted.
6. A p ro p erly adjusted linkage w ill preven t the s e le c to r
fro m m oving beyond both the neutral detent, and the
d rive detent unless the le v e r is lifted to pass over
the m echanical stop in the steerin g column.
7. In the event that an adjustment is required, place the
s e le c to r le v e r in d rive (D) position as determ ined by
the tran sm ission detent. See Steps 2 and 3.
8. Loosen the adjustment sw iv e l at the mast jacket, and
rotate the transm ission le v e r so that it contacts the
d riv e stop in the steerin g column.
9. Tighten the sw ivel and recheck the adjustment. See
Steps 2 and 6.
10. Readjust indicator needle if n ecessary to agree with
the transm ission detent positions.
11. Readjust neutral safety switch if n ecessa ry to p ro ­
vid e the c o rre c t relationship to the transm ission de­
tent positions. See Section 12.
12. When p ro p e rly adjusted the follow in g conditions must
be m et by manual operation of the steerin g column
shift le v e r.

NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH ADJUSTMENT

The neutral safety switch must be adjusted so that the
ca r w ill start in the park o r neutral position, (neutral
position only on 30 S eries m odels), but w ill not start in
the other positions.
See Section 9.

THROTTLE. FULLY DEPRESS
PLUNGER A N D POSITIO N SWITCH
TO OBTAIN DIM .
TABLE BETWEEN PLUNGER A N D
LEVER. TIGHTEN SWITCH ATTACHING
SCREWS.

a. F rom re v e r s e to d riv e position tra v e l, the tran s­
m ission detent fe e l must be noted and re la te d to
indicated position on dial.
b. When in d rive and r e v e r s e positions, pull le v e r
rea rw a rd (towards s teerin g w heel) and then r e ­
lease. It must drop back into position with no
re strictio n s.
