Access to programs, data and functions is protected on a user basis via
8 hierarchical protection levels. These are divided into
(see table 11-1):

4 password levels for Siemens, machine manufacturer and end user

4 keyswitch positions for end user
This provides a multilevel safety concept for controlling access rights.
