Model W1866 (For Machines Mfd. Since 11/18)

Assembly

Before beginning the assembly process, refer to Items.
Needed.for.Setup and gather everything you need.
Ensure all parts have been properly cleaned of any
heavy-duty rust-preventative applied at the factory (if
applicable). Be sure to complete all steps in the assembly
procedure prior to performing the Test.Run.or connecting
the machine to power.
Assembling the W1866 lathe consists of attaching the legs
to the lathe bed, and then attaching the chuck guard,
tool rack, and chisel pan.
To.assemble.machine,.do.these.steps:
1. Position stand legs upright approximately 48
apart, and align them reasonably well (see Figure
11).
2. Insert chisel pan mounting rod into two brackets
underneath chisel pan (see Figure 12).
Note: Install the chisel pan as shown in Figure 12
so the open end will face the front of the lathe
bedway when it is installed in Step 8.
3. Install (1) M12-1.75 hex nut and (1) 12mm flat
washer on each end of mounting rod, then insert
into designated hole on each leg (see Figures 12–13)
and loosely secure with (2) M12-1.75 lock nuts and
12mm flat washers.
Note:.The lock nuts on the chisel pan mounting rod
should not be tightened until the lathe bedway has
been installed.
