When the locking lever is tightened, a locking plate lifts up underneath the bed and secures the tailstock in place. To position the tailstock along the length of the bed, do these steps: 1.

Installing Faceplate W1758 Owner's Manual (Mfg. Since 4/10) Installing/Removing Faceplate The faceplate is used for removing material from the face of the workpiece, such as in hollowing operations. The faceplate can be installed only if the center has been removed from the headstock spindle. To install the faceplate onto the spindle, do these steps: DISCONNECT THE LATHE FROM POWER!

Since 4/10) Spindle Turning Spindle turning is the operation performed when a workpiece is mounted between the headstock and tailstock centers (see Figure 26). Before beginning any turning operation, make sure the headstock and tailstock centers are properly aligned.

Faceplate Turning W1758 Owner's Manual (Mfg. Since 4/10) Faceplate Turning Faceplate turning is when a workpiece is mounted to the faceplate that, in turn, is secured to the headstock spin- dle. This type of turning is usually done with open-faced workpieces like bowls or plates (see Figure 30).
