Cabling for Extended Frequency Mode - 3.6 GHz to 50 GHz

To extend the frequency range to 50 GHz, a special cabling configuration is
required. It is recommended to use the M9169E Programmable Attenuator module
in this configuration to provide range control and automated field alignments and
self-test. The RF signal is applied to the Aux 2 In connector on the M9365A
Downconverter directly or through the M9169E Programmable Attenuator.
Cabling with the M9169E (Recommended)
The M9169E Programmable Attenuator is a switchable-input programmable
attenuator module that enables adjustable power range control for higher power
signals up to +30 dBm. Additionally it automates switching of the internal M9393A
calibrator signal (from Aux 1 Out connector on M9365A Downconverter) to run field
alignments and self-test, improving amplitude accuracy. For the suggested module
positioning in the M9018A chassis, refer to
Connect the cables as shown in the image below.
The user input signal is connected to Port 3 on the M9169E.
Following are the cabling requirements:
34
1.
Option M9393A-FRX (frequency range extension, 3.6 GHz to 50 GHz)
is required to operate in this mode.
2.
Option M9393A-F27 (frequency range, 9kHz to 27 GHz) is a
prerequisite for Option FRX.
