vegetation.
The rain bucket can be named and can be enabled or disabled.
Rain Bucket Operation
When the Rain Bucket is enabled, the allocated input is monitored for Rain Bucket pulses. When a
precipitation pulse is detected, the rain rate is calculated and the total incremented by a value
determined by the pulses per mm value. If the calculated rainfall rate is greater than 0.1mm per
hour, the rain bucket is wet. If the rain rate falls below 0.1mm per hour, the rain bucket is dry. The
rain bucket counts the number of precipitation pulses and logs the total every hour. The Rain Days
log period can be set for a period of 1 to 7 days. For example, if a period of 3 days is selected,
rainfall will stay in the log for a period of 3 days before being "over written" 72 hours later by a new
sample. The total rainfall is calculated over the number of days specified in the Rain Days setting. If
the total rain exceeds the Rain Cancel setting, the rain bucket disables all irrigation (except those
programs with the Ignore Rainswitch setting) and sets the rain switch on. No irrigation will take place
until the total precipitation within this Rain Days log period falls below the Rain Cancel, (i.e. if no
more rain occurs). The Rain Switch will then be switched OFF and irrigation will continue when
programmed, and the rain bucket returns to dry, or wet, depending on the current rainfall rate. If the
log period was set to 7 days, then irrigation could be disabled for up to a period of 1 week.
The rain bucket operation is shown in Figure 75.

Pulses per mm
This setting allows various tipping buckets to be used and reflects the number of pulses a rain bucket
will output for each mm of rain.
