Filling coolant using a pump
1.
Connect appropriate pump with hose to drain
valve (1).
2.
Loosen the vent line union at the distributor
piece (arrow).
3.
Open drain valve and pump coolant into en-
gine at 0.5 bar minimum.
4.
Tighten union (arrow) if coolant leaks out at
loose union.
5.
Fill expansion tank until overflow edge is
reached.
6.
Close drain valve and tighten with torque wrench to specified tightening torque.

Check satisfactory condition of valve cover and clean sealing faces if required.
8.
Position valve cover on filler neck and close.
9.
Start engine (→ Page 180).
10.
After 10 seconds of running the engine without load, stop the engine (→ Page 186).
11.
Turn valve cover on coolant expansion tank counterclockwise to first stop and release pressure.
12.
Continue to turn valve cover counter-clockwise and remove.
13.
Check coolant level (→ Page 315) and top up coolant as necessary:
a) Top up coolant via expansion tank until coolant level at top edge of filler neck remains constant.
b) Position valve cover on filler neck and close.
14.
Repeat the steps from "Start engine" (→ Step 9) until coolant no longer needs to be topped up.
15.
Disconnect pump and hose.
