The Blom-Singer Dilation/Sizing System is designed to facilitate dilating and measuring of the tracheoesophageal puncture tract (TEP) in preparation for insertion of a Blom-Singer voice prosthesis. Included in the system is a Puncture Dilator that also prevents closure of the tracheoesophageal puncture and aspiration of fluids when the voice prosthesis is removed. -

Puncture Dilator The Blom-Singer Puncture Dilator (diagram 1) is a tapered, solid silicone stent that is inserted into the tracheoesophageal (TE) puncture upon removal of the voice prosthesis. Its purpose is to prevent the puncture from closing;... - Page 7 Incremental millimeter markings and numbers on the device correspond to the lengths of Blom-Singer Voice Prostheses. The product is packaged with three sizer inserters and replacement inserters are also available separately. This device is only available for use by a qualified, trained medical professional.

Avoid touching the portion of the dilator that will enter the puncture. Secure the dilator near the edge of the stoma with adhesive tape across the neck strap to prevent the dilator from slipping out.

4. Note the marker that is closest to the entrance of the TE puncture (diagram 12). Read the size number on the Voice Prosthesis Sizer and select a Blom-Singer Voice Prosthesis of corresponding size.
