10 – COMPONENT TESTING:
DISCONNECT THE DRYER FROM THE ELECTRIC SUPPLY BEFORE ANY MAINTENANCE
10.1 – Security Thermostat Set:
The Security Thermostat Set can be found in the HEATER Box at the rear of Dryer. It is composed by two
thermostats: Thermostat 1 of SECURITY and Thermostat 2 of LINT FILTER CLEANING.
When the Thermostats are operating the Heater open the contact (i.e., it is disconnected) but the motor keeps
operating. Each Thermostat comes with different colored dot, which is a guide for a correct fitting of the
wiring connection on each terminal.
Use a Multimeter to test the thermostats and check continuity between their leads.
10.1.1 – Security Thermostat:
The security thermostat is always closed during Dryer operation, but when its contacts open they do not
close again.
The security thermostat opens its contacts in the 190ºC to 210ºC temperature range.
The security thermostat contacts open in the following cases:
1. When the Operation Thermostat fails;
2. When the Lint Screen Cleaning Thermostat fails;
3. When the Lint Screen is clogged and the Lint Screen Cleaning Thermostat fails.
The Security Thermostat Set must be replaced in such cases.
10.1.2 – Lint Screen Cleaning Thermostat:
The Lint Screen Cleaning Thermostat is normally closed during Dryer operation; when its contacts open,
however, the Lint Screen Cleaning lamp will light in the Dryer Panel.
The Lint Screen Cleaning Thermostat operates in the following temperature ranges:
contact opening: 115ºC to 125ºC
contact closing: 35ºC to 45ºC
The security thermostat contacts open when the Lint Screen is clogged, i.e., when it needs to be cleaned.
