A tumble dryer uses heated air to dry loads of laundry.
When the motor is started, the exhaust fan pulls
1
room temperature air in through the air intake at
the rear of the tumble dryer and over the heat
source (burner flame for gas, heating element for
electric, and coil for steam).
The heated air moves into the cylinder, where it is
2
circulated through the wet load by the tumbling
action of the cylinder.
The air then passes through the lint filter, exhaust
3
fan, and is vented to the outdoors.
