Drive support information

The Cavium ThunderX2 processor provides SATA 6Gb/s support. The chassis supports two low-profile LFF
SATA hot-plug drives per server node.

Drive installation guidelines

Observe the following general guidelines:
The system automatically sets all drive numbers.
If only one drive is used, install the drive in the node 1, drive bay 1.
For drive numbering, see Drive bay numbering on page 12.
Drives with the same capacity provide the greatest storage space efficiency when grouped into the same
drive array.

Installing an LFF hot-plug drive

CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all bays
are populated with either a component or a blank.
Procedure
1. If installed, remove the front bezel.
2. Remove the drive blank.
