Disconnect the solar panel charger or the ac charger from the J5 charger input.
Disconnect the battery pack cable from the J1 connector.
Substitute the known good battery.
Disconnect the TFIO module cable from J15 I/O expansion connector, remote communications equipment and
auxiliary equipment.
Connect the current measurement troubleshooting cable (Part No. 2017350-xxx see Figure 100:) to known good
battery, and connect to the circuit board.
Measure the average current using a MM. If equal to or greater than 80 mA at 12 Vdc, disconnect the battery pack.
Reconnect the TFIO module cable with the one module connected.
Measure the average current using a MM.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Low Power TFIO modules generally do not draw over 0.30 ma at 12 Vdc.
Disconnect the battery pack if average current drops less than or equal to 0.30 mA.
Connect the one additional module.
Repeat this step for additional modules until all have been connected or equipment fault has been located.
Return to the Power Troubleshooting Flow Chart (Figure 97:) if power drain has not been located,
7.3.7 SLEEP Mode
The SLEEP mode is a safety feature which maintains the RAM but discontinues data measurement calculations and control
functions. If the battery voltage falls below 11Vdc, the flow computer enters SLEEP mode. When the flow computer is in the
SLEEP mode, the word SLEEP is displayed on the LCD.
If battery voltage is still below 10.9 Vdc, when the user disconnects locally, the flow computer returns to SLEEP mode. If battery
voltage is above 11Vdc, the flow computer remains awake.
The flow computer has a real-time clock which maintains time and date during the SLEEP mode and writes an event record
when entering and leaving the SLEEP mode.
Upon wake-up, the flow computer performs the following functions:
— Stores present calculation periods accumulations in historical record.
— Zeros present calculation periods accumulations.
— Ends current daily record and start new daily record.
Tools needed:
— -Multi Meter (MM)
To perform a check of battery voltage while flow computer is in sleep mode:
Connect the PC running PCCU32 to the flow computer with either an MMI cable (RS-232), a USB cable or an
Ethernet cable.
Ensure the battery pack cable make a secure connection with the connector J1 (Figure 96:).
Check the battery pack voltage.
Replace with another battery pack if voltage is low.
7.3.8 Reset Procedures
The flow computer operating system can be reset through either a cold or warm start procedure. The decision to use these
procedures should only be made by an experienced technician.
