To perform a power supply test:
Verify that the power supply voltage setting, the power supply current rating and the conductors are sized correctly
(reference wire sizing chart).
-
Correct any discrepancies.
Check for a poor cable connection in the cable between the circuit board and the J1 battery pack and the J5 charging
source (Figure 98:).
Verify all the field wiring screw terminals are tight.
Correct and retest, as necessary.
Verify that there are no other devices that may drop an excessive voltage across them in the power supply circuit.
Correct and retest, as necessary.
Disconnect the charging source cable at the panel J5 connector.
Replace the battery with a known good battery, see section, 3.9 Battery Pack Installation, page 56.
Reconnect the charging source cable to the panel J5 connector.
Measure the voltage at the charging source cable.
Measure the voltage at the battery pack.
Compare the voltage. If the charging source voltage is less than (+) 0.4 Vdc higher than the battery voltage, return to
Figure 97: and continue.
7.3.3 Solar Panel Charging System Test
If your system setup includes a solar panel charger connected to the XFC
the flow computer.
Tools needed:
— Multi Meter (MM)
— Small slotted screwdriver
To perform a solar panel charging system test:
Check the solar panel angle and direction. In the northern hemisphere, the panel should face due south and in the
southern hemisphere, due north.
Correct and retest, as necessary.
Check the solar panel for any physical damage or obstructions to sunlight.
Correct and retest, as necessary.
Check the solar panel wiring to be certain it is correctly connected to the associated J5 charger input termination block
(Figure 98:).
Correct and retest, as necessary.
